As discussed in phase 2, the diverters and magic overflow systems have been discarded.  Now, rain water goes directly into the tank, and overflow directly down the storm water drain.

Here's a photo of the plumbing of the backyard tank.  Painted in Mission Brown, to match the rest of the house.
