I've been playing with Z-Scale model rail off and on for a few years now. I've collected lots of bits and pieces, books, ideas and software.
I chose Z-Scale because it is the smallest model railway scale; 220:1. My house is small, so to do any significant scale distances would take up way too much room. I also saw some of the coffee table models - layouts under glass inside a coffee table - and thought that would be a good place to start. Unfortunately Z-Scale is expensive and its rare to find a hobby shop in Australia that sells it. So everything is bought from ebay, or international sellers.
I like the tinkering and building side of this hobby. As yet I haven't committed to a layout, but I have built some electronic modules. There's more information in the following sections.
